Shelley considers herself a family and systems therapist at heart. Her early years spent working in community-based residential and school-based mental health settings taught her to understand and appreciate more fully the difficulties individuals and families experience when interacting with various, often difficult, systems. Shelley feels she’s been providing mental health services to emerging adults since being a resident assistant in college when many of life’s challenges are first discovered. Shelley enjoys caring for her friends’ and neighbors’ dogs while awaiting the discovery of the perfect four-legged hound who is out there waiting for her, she’s sure. Shelley has specialized training in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing).
